In Stillness the Dancing

Connecting life, scripture, and poetry

when day is done

Beth Ferguson, June 10, 2009

I come to the garden alone / when the dew is still on the roses / and the voice I hear falling on my ear / the Son of God discloses …

MY heart is a garden of dreams
Where you walk when day is done,
Fair as the royal flowers,
Calm as the lingering sun.

Never a drouth comes there,
Nor any frost that mars,
Only the wind of love
Under the early stars,—

The living breath that moves
Whispering to and fro,
Like the voice of God in the dusk
Of the garden long ago.
~ Bliss Carman

He speaks, and the sound of His voice / Is so sweet the birds hush their singing / And the melody that He gave to me / Within my heart is ringing.
