Looking out my window

In August we escaped for a few days to the Hill Country.
We loved the house, setting, quiet!
I am thinking
In July we attended a ballgame. That night I heard someone say, “Three strikes! You are out!” I’ve been thinking about how God doesn’t keep score, and how are failure doesn’t have to define us.
I am thankful
I have some wonderful friends through our church. I’m thankful especially for the young women who join me in Bible study. It’s definitely an opportunity for iron sharpening iron.
One of my favorite things
Calendar days with lots of white space!
I am creating
I wrote a piece this past month Imagination’s Role in Spiritual Formation. I invite you to check it out!
I continue to doodle:

I am listening to
I love Tim Mackie and the Bible Project. I’ve been listening to his teaching on Hebrews from his podcast, My Strange Bible.
I am reading
Holes by Louis Sachar
Revelation: A Shorter Commentary by G.K. Beale
The Book of Hebrews
I am hoping
Fall comes late to Central Texas, but I am hoping for cool, breezy mornings …
In my kitchen
I think I highlighted these before and they are so tasty –
Gluten Free Soft Rolls!
In my garden
Too hot to be outside …
Waiting for the oppressive heat to dissipate!
Quote
Lack of mission is rarely a knowledge problem; it’s a worship problem. (Trevin Wax)
A moment from my day
Our Women’s Development (aka Bible study) started in August. I made name tags for each one, praying for each woman as I typed her name. I am blessed to study together with 75 women this semester!
Closing Thought
This prayer is on my heart –
Teach us to receive this day
not as we have imagined it,
but as a gift from Your hand.
