In his “Spring Carol,” Robert Louis Stevenson writes:
When loud by landside streamlets gush,
And clear in the greenwood quires the thrush,
With sun on the meadows
And songs in the shadows
Comes again to me
The gift of the tongues of the lea,
The gift of the tongues of meadows.
Straightway my olden heart returns
And dances with the dancing burns;
It sings with the sparrows;
To the rain and the (grimy) barrows
Sings my heart aloud—
To the silver-bellied cloud,
To the silver rainy arrows.
Each day is a blessing, no doubt … but today, today was simply beautiful! We opened the windows, enjoyed the fresh air, the sunshine, the songs of the birds filling our home.
The return of spring reminds me of a verse in Acts where Paul says, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
R. L. Stevenson says, “sits my heart at ease” … this spring day brought such a refreshment to my heart … sitting it at ease, allowing it to dance in the breeze.
