I’m reading in Matthew this weekend. As I got to what is typically called the Lord’s Prayer, I was reminded of our dear Anglican friends at the beach. A part of their byline is “Unleash Heaven!” I love this idea! I’m praying today … “Unleash heaven through me, use me as an instrument of your grace! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
“It’s our duty and privilege to unleash heaven in our lives – to wake up every day filled with the Holy Spirit looking for ways to unleash heaven in this world. What would this world be like if we all started our days committed to unleashing heaven everywhere we went? It’s why we’re here!”
Apostles-by-the-Sea
“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
That’s a mighty prayer and an answered one.
His will has been, is being, and will be done.
My prayer, “God, do my life your way – your will be done in my world as it is in heaven!”
Heaven is wherever God’s will is being done. When, occasionally, it is done on earth, then there is heaven. It is the most difficult thing in the world for most of us to give up directing our own story and turn to the Author.
Madeleine L’Engle
My prayer, “God, do my life your way – your will be done in my world as it is in heaven!”
Prayer teaches us what to aspire to, implants in us the ideals we ought to cherish. Prayer is an invitation to God to intervene in our lives, to let God’s will prevail in our affairs; it is the opening of a window to God in our will, an effort to make God the Lord of our soul. We submit our interests to God’s concern, and seek to be allied with what is ultimately right.”
Abraham Joshua Heschel
My prayer, “God, do my life your way – your will be done in my world as it is in heaven!”
Jesus does not demand great actions from us but simply surrender and gratitude.
St. Therese of Lisieux
My prayer, “God, do my life your way – your will be done in my world as it is in heaven!”
God always calls. To hear that call and allow it to guide our actions requires discipline to prevent ourselves from remaining or becoming spiritually deaf. There are so many voices calling for our attention and so many activities distracting us that a serious effort is necessary if we are to become and remain sensitive to the divine presence in our lives.
Henri Nouwen
My prayer, “God, do my life your way – your will be done in my world as it is in heaven!”
Our vocation is not simply to be, but to work together with God in the creation of our own life, our own identity, our own destiny…. This means to say that we should not passively exist, but actively participate in God’s creative freedom, in our own lives, and in the lives of others, by choosing the truth.
Thomas Merton
My prayer, “God, do my life your way – your will be done in my world as it is in heaven!“
My God and Father, day by day,
Far from my home in life’s rough way,
O teach me from my heart to say,
“Thy will be done.”Let but my fainting heart be blest
Charlotte Elliott, 1834
With thy sweet Spirit for its guest,
My God, to thee I leave the rest:
“Thy will be done.”
