“If there is to be any peace it will come through being, not having.” ~~ Henry Miller
I’m so grateful today … for so many things … but especially for slow Saturday mornings. While I awoke several times in early morning hours, I lingered in the bed until it was “late.” I am thankful for the luxury of sleeping late.
As I wandered out of the bedroom I was greeted by muted sunlight, fluffy white snowflakes, and brisk cold air. The snow didn’t stick but how beautiful it is as it falls to the ground. The flakes swirl in the breeze, their hang-time in mid-air unreasonably long, they fall to the ground and disappear. As they twirl and swirl I smile. While I don’t like being cold, I love the changes in seasons … I’m so grateful for the variety of weather that the Grand Master of Creation provides.
Today the agenda is short – nothing just has to get done … I’m grateful for days like this … where the choices are limitless and and unnecessary at the same time. I sip on coffee, read, ponder, enjoy, listen, watch … breathe … just be. I’m grateful for time to just be!
I read today these words, “God’s love is based on nothing, and the fact that it is based on nothing makes us secure. Were it based on anything we do, and that anything were to collapse, then God’s love would crumble as well. But with the God of Jesus no such thing can possibly happen. People who realize this can live freely and to the fullest.” ~~ Brennan Manning
Today I live free, fully, restfully in his presence … so grateful for a slow Saturday!
