Connecting life, scripture, and poetry

Precious boys!

Beth Ferguson, November 10, 2013November 12, 2020

I wrote these words a year ago:  Today I’m thankful for grandsons. Fridays are special for many reasons … the end of the work week, hooray … but also it is playtime at Grandma and Granddad’s house on Fridays. Jason and Abby steal away for a few hours of time for themselves … and Colin and Dylan play with us! I love playing with them … we chase, hide, laugh, vroom cars, dance, hunt tigers, and even scream (when something is really funny). We have a loose routine … we fix a kid friendly supper, have a new small toy (dollar or two) out to play with, and then the rest of the evening takes its own path. Sometimes we take a walk around the block or go play at the nearby park … even in the dark … which is particularly fun. Grandsons are such fun! Love these young boys! Love being a part of their routine!

Today I can I am still very grateful for grandsons!  The routine is the same and the fun just keeps coming!  Just this week …

  • Dylan was playing with Brad.  He asked Brad, “What’s this?” pulling on Brad’s beard.  Brad told him it is his beard, and then he asked, “Dylan, do you have a beard?”  Dylan rubbed his chin, and said, “My beard is all gone!”
  • Colin watched Aunt Damen open her birthday presents at the dinner table the other day.  Damen received a very nice hair dryer (ceramic and ionized).  Colin burst out with excitement, “Oh, now you can fix your hair like a princess!”

I should carry around pencil and paper … the things they say are so much fun … and insightful at times.

I’m thankful for these young boys … and the opportunity to love on them weekly!
