The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
John 1:14
We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son,
who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Christ is born, Alleluia!
God left the glory of Heaven to become the God-Man,
God becoming human in Jesus.
He pitched His tent, His tabernacle with us
so that His glory fills the Temple once more.
Love came down at Christmas!
Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love Divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and Angels gave the sign.Worship we the Godhead,
Love Incarnate, Love Divine;
Worship we our Jesus:
But wherewith for sacred sign?Love shall be our token,
Christina Rossetti
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign.
We know that God is love by his very nature and because of that,
he demonstrates his love toward us – becoming our Kinsman-Redeemer!
We can’t really celebrate all that Christmas is,
without also looking forward to the cross!
Who, being in very nature God,
Philippians 2:6-8
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
May the Christ of Christmas bring joy to your heart and peace to your soul.
Rejoice, the Lord is King!
Love divine, all loves excelling,
Charles Wesley, 1747
Joy of heaven to earth come down:
fix in us thy humble dwelling,
all thy faithful mercies crown:
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
pure, unbounded love thou art;
visit us with thy salvation,
enter every trembling heart.
Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
into every troubled breast;
let us all in thee inherit,
let us find the promised rest:
take away the love of sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its Beginning,
set our hearts at liberty.
Come, Almighty to deliver,
let us all thy life receive;
suddenly return, and never,
nevermore thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
serve thee as thy hosts above,
pray and praise thee without ceasing,
glory in thy perfect love.
Finish, then, thy new creation;
pure and spotless let us be:
let us see thy great salvation
perfectly restored in thee;
changed from glory into glory,
’til in heaven we take our place,
’til we cast our crowns before thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.
