Connecting life, scripture, and poetry

let him who boasts …

Sermon Notes

Pastor Paul spoke today from Romans 2:17-29:  Religion is not enough!  The great equalizer is sin … the greater equalizer is grace.  We all come to the foot of the cross needing grace.

Our pastor reminded us that we can’t reduce the beauty, wonder, or mystery of grace to a list of duties.  Nor can we depend on a ceremony or church affiliation to meet God’s expectations.  Instead, we must allow the Scriptures to teach us humility.  We must depend on God to transform our hearts!

This is what the Lord says:

“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
    or the strong man boast of his strength
    or the rich man boast of his riches,
but let him who boasts boast about this:
    that he understands and knows me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
    justice and righteousness on earth,
    for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.   (Jeremiah 9:23 – 24)
