Looking out my window
We have several ‘Live Oak’ trees. They are not true “evergreen” but they do keep their leaves year-round. What makes them different is they shed their old leaves generally in March while maintaining new growth. Their branches are never bare. So over the next several weeks, the leaves will fall continuously.
At the same time, new growth is pushing its way out of the ground.
One more tidbit … we hit record highs in February, 12 days over 80 degrees.
Looks like March will be more of the same.
I am thinking
I’ve been thinking about this quote by Ruth Chou Simons: “Our hearts will always go in the direction of our gaze, and our actions will mirror what we’re fixated on.” May my heart and mind be fixed on Jesus!
I am thankful
I’m grateful for all things sunny today –
Sunlight peaking in windows and under doors
Warm breezes through screens
Sparkles on the early morning dew
Shadows lurking in corners
Leaves reflecting green-gold.
Springtime whispering
Light, literal and figurative
One of my favorite things
The smell of bacon mid-morning
I am creating

I enjoy writing and drawing.
I had a piece published recently – Heaven Among Us
I am listening to
A playlist related to our Women’s Development Bible Study on Proverbs.
I am wearing
I’m shifting my closet – keeping a few long-sleeved items in case cooler weather returns.
The weather is likely to surprise us.
I’m reviewing the spring/summer pieces I own.
Thinking about what to discard, what to save. Closet decisions are always challenging for me.
I am reading
Our community group is reading through the New Testament in a semester.
We’ve read the gospels and are finishing Acts this week.
I just finished The Correspondent by Virginia Evans.
Reading that book inspires me to want to write letters!
I am hoping
I don’t have a clear “hope” at the moment. My mind … maybe soul … feels cluttered.
Time for spring -clearning!
In my kitchen
Sharing favorite gluten free foods today.

I also experimented with making my own snack sized mini cheese/bean tacos.
In my garden

My Orchids are budding. Maybe next month I’ll have flowers!
My holiday cactus is confused and blooming from every branch. The red flowers are so beautiful!
Quote
“Imagine, the letters one has sent out into the world, the letters received back in turn, are like the pieces of a magnificent puzzle, or, a better metaphor, if dated, the links of a long chain, and even if those links are never put back together, which they will certainly never be, even if they remain for the rest of time dispersed across the earth like the fragile blown seeds of a dying dandelion, isn’t there something wonderful in that, to think that a story of one’s life is preserved in some way, that this very letter may one day mean something, even if it is a very small thing, to someone?” The Correspondent pg. 44
A moment from my day
Our sons, their wives, and our four grandsons gathered for lunch on Sunday, the first day of March to celebrate birthdays and just to have fun. I can’t think of anything I love more than having the 10 of us around the table, enjoying home-cooked food and superb conversation!
Closing Thoughts
Lent is a season of letting go, of surrendering what weighs us down.
Asking myself today …
Am I carrying a burden Jesus has already lifted?
Am I striving for approval that Christ has already secured?
Can I walk away from my work—physically and mentally—
because I trust that God holds my life in His hands?
Join me in stepping into the rest that only Jesus gives.
