Connecting life, scripture, and poetry

know me firsthand

Beth Ferguson, January 10, 2010

From Peterson’s The Message, “They will no longer go around setting up schools to teach each other about God. They’ll know me firsthand … ”

Our pastor reminded us today … from Matthew 11, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Jesus says … not learn “about” me … but learn “from” me.

He invites us to submit to the yoke … to follow his lead … to learn from him walking in step with him … pulling in the same direction … working the same ground … finding rest for our souls in surrender.
