Connecting life, scripture, and poetry

blind man groping

Beth Ferguson, April 30, 2009

You are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people. ~Ezekiel 12:2

Give me eyes to see …

The Spring blew trumpets of color;
Her Green sang in my brain—
I heard a blind man groping
“Tap—tap” with his cane;

I pitied him in his blindness;
But can I boast, “I see”?
Perhaps there walks a spirit
Close by, who pities me,—

A spirit who hears me tapping
The five-sensed cane of mind
Amid such unguessed glories—
That I am worse than blind.
~ H Kemp

Give me eyes to see …

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ~2 Corinthians 4:4

The LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. ~Psalm 146:8

Give me eyes to see …

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Give me eyes to see …
