In Stillness the Dancing

Connecting life, scripture, and poetry

falling, falling

Beth Ferguson, June 23, 2009

I am grateful for this afternoon … much needed rest …

The heat is heavy,
Almost stifling
A very light breeze rustles
Through the leaves
My eyelids droop
Lungs fill slowly, deeply
Shoulder relax
Body sinks
A passing friend, sleep
Overtakes me, and
With a feather-light touch
He sends me over the edge
Falling, falling
Breezes, birds, nature’s lullaby
Luxuriously I succumb
Lazy afternoon respite
