A Conduit of Grace

Beth Ferguson, September 30, 2012November 12, 2020
Sermon Notes

Mirriam Webster says a conduit is a natural or artificial channel through which something is conveyed; a means of transmitting or distributing.

2 Corinthian 4:7 says … But we have this treasure [the light of the knowledge of the glory of God] in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

God chose to use mere clay – earthen, easily broken – as a conduit of God’s amazing glory, power, and grace!  He uses US … broken vessels … so that his power is obvious!  As Christians we are conduits … we do all that we do so that God can receive praise.  1 Peter 4:11 says, “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”

As we grow up in Christ, our sphere of influence widens as we allow the Spirit to teach us to love, forgive, and serve!

As we ended our worship service today we sang one of my favorite songs; it speaks to this very issue … being conduits of God’s glorious name, his righteousness, and his saving love!

Let the glory of Your name Be the passion of the Church; Let the righteousness of God Be a holy flame that burns; Let the saving love of Christ Be the measure of our lives; We believe You’re all to us!
