Advent Admonition

Beth Ferguson, November 29, 2015

In our Advent reading for today the Scripture says, “Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down ….

On this first Sunday of Advent I find myself parched, weighed down …slice of tree

Now it is time to steal away, to lay aside the worries that tug on my heart, to re-focus, prepare my heart for Christmas.

In you, Lord my God,
    I put my trust.
 I trust in you …
No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame …

Show me your ways, Lord,
    teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

—————

Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.

—————

Thankful tonight for the invitation of Jesus, “ Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
