Looking out my window
It was about 70 degrees today, a little overcast.
This is the mildest winter I remember since 2012.
I am thinking
How Jesus invites us to be yoked to him so that we can rest.
How to organize my day to allow the Spirit to have his way,
for fruitfulness, exercise and rest.
I’m thinking about this quote: “Above all, trust the slow work of God.”
I am thankful
I am especially thankful to live in the same city as my sons, their families.
I love watching my grandkids grow up!
I am thankful for another year and all the possible adventures that will unfold.
One of my favorite things
The quiet morning, the darkness that opens up to light
I am creating

I enjoy writing and drawing.
The writing keeps me engaged in learning.
Drawing is particularly relaxing.
I am listening to
An audio book, A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers
The Way of Wisdom lesson videos in preparation for our Women’s study
I am wearing
Today I wore a lightweight caftan all day.
It was like being in my PJs.
The perfect way to start the new year!
I am reading
I am reading Proverbs, Matthew, and Colossians.
I also love reading Substack essays
I am hoping
I am hoping to establish a rhythm of life that feels grounded and faithful in 2026.
I am trusting God for what I can’t yet see clearly.
In my kitchen
I made a gnocchi soup today – yumm!
The fun part was asking AI to help me figure out what to make with the few supplies I had.
It turned out great!
In my garden
I have a very leggy Thanksgiving cactus.
I’m getting ready to prune it and propagate the pieces for new plants!
Quote
“Aslan” said Lucy “you’re bigger”.
“That is because you are older, little one” answered he.
“Not because you are?”
“I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger.”
From CS Lewis in Prince Caspian
I chose this quote because I want to know God more – I want to find him bigger!
A moment from my day
I enjoy working on jigsaw puzzles, especially when Ron joins me at the table.
Closing Thoughts
It’s the first day of a new year. I might like to record each month in some way–maybe like this!
I saw this idea a few years ago, on someone’s blog. It’s a fun way to capture a day!
